Over three months, a personal injury firm in the Florida Panhandle turned 1,145 Google Ads clicks into 252 tracked phone calls and form submissions. That is a 22% conversion rate in one of the most expensive keyword markets in Google Ads. This case study walks through exactly what we built, how we tracked it and what you can take from it for your own firm.

1The Results at a Glance

Here are the headline numbers from the three-month period. Every lead in these totals is a real phone call tracked in CallRail or a real form submission on the landing page. No button clicks, no page views and no "engaged sessions" were counted as conversions.

252 Tracked Leads

Phone calls and form submissions from Google Ads over three months.

22% Conversion Rate

Up from an 18% conversion rate before the new landing pages.

$423 Cost per Lead

Down from $517 per lead, an 18.2% reduction on the same budget.

8.83% Click-Through Rate

1,145 clicks from 12,967 impressions on accident and injury searches.

The firm invested $106,485 in Google Ads over the period at an average cost per click of $93. For a personal injury practice, a single signed auto accident case can be worth many times the cost of the lead that brought it in, which is why the cost per lead matters more here than the cost per click.

Question to AnswerDo you know your firm's current cost per lead from Google Ads, and is that number based on real calls and forms or on clicks?

2The Client: An Accident Law Firm in the Florida Panhandle

The client is a personal injury law firm in the Florida Panhandle focused on accident cases. Their ideal client is someone who was just hurt in a car, truck or motorcycle accident and is searching Google for a lawyer, usually from a phone and usually ready to call.

That search behavior shaped everything we built. Accident victims are not browsing. They want to know three things fast: can this firm help me, does it cost anything upfront and how do I reach someone right now.

  • Practice area: Accident and personal injury law, including auto, truck and motorcycle accident cases.
  • Market: The Florida Panhandle, where the firm competes against regional and statewide injury firms with large ad budgets.
  • Primary lead type: Inbound phone calls, with lead form submissions as the secondary conversion.
?
Question to AnswerWhat does your ideal client want to know in the first five seconds after they land on your page?

3The Challenge: $93 Clicks Leave No Room for Waste

Personal injury keywords are some of the most expensive in Google Ads. In this campaign the average click cost $93. At that price, every visitor who lands on a page and leaves without calling is $93 gone.

The firm was already converting 18% of its clicks into leads before we rebuilt the landing pages. That is respectable. But at $93 per click, every percentage point of conversion rate is worth thousands of dollars a month, so the opportunity was in getting more of the traffic the firm was already paying for to pick up the phone.

Why Conversion Rate Matters More in Legal

  • You cannot do much about the cost per click in a competitive injury market. Your competitors set that price.
  • You can control what happens after the click. Your landing page, your phone number placement and your tracking are all in your hands.
  • At $93 per click, a 4-point lift in conversion rate does more for your cost per lead than almost any bid change.
?
Question to AnswerWhat is your average cost per click, and how much does each lost visitor cost your firm per month?

4Custom Landing Pages Built for Accident Searches

The biggest change we made was building custom landing pages for the Google Ads traffic. Instead of sending accident searches to a general website page, every ad pointed to a page built for one job: getting an injured person to call the firm.

Each page matched the search that brought the visitor in. Someone who searched for a car accident lawyer landed on a page about car accident cases, not a page listing every practice area the firm handles.

  • Click-to-call phone number at the top: On mobile, the phone number was the first thing the visitor could tap. Most accident searches happen on a phone, so the call button did the heavy lifting.
  • Message match with the ad: The headline on the page repeated the promise in the ad, so the visitor knew right away they were in the right place.
  • Short lead form above the fold: Visitors who did not want to call could submit their name, phone number and a short description of the accident without scrolling.
  • No navigation menu: The landing pages removed the main site menu so visitors were not pulled away to the blog, the about page or the attorney bios.
  • Trust signals near the form: Free consultation messaging and the firm's local Panhandle presence sat right next to the call to action.

5Tracking Every Phone Call With CallRail

For an accident law firm, the phone call is the lead. That makes call tracking the most important piece of the whole setup. We used CallRail so every call from Google Ads was recorded, attributed to the campaign and keyword that drove it and sent back into Google Ads as a conversion.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is law firms counting a tap on the phone number as a lead. A tap is just an intent signal. It is not a call. If you optimize around taps, you are training Google's Smart Bidding to find people who tap and hang up.

  1. Dynamic number insertion on the landing pages. CallRail swapped the phone number on the page so every Google Ads visitor saw a tracking number tied to their click.
  2. Google Ads call extensions and call assets. Calls placed straight from the ad were tracked as well, so no call source was left out.
  3. Minimum call duration for conversions. Short calls, wrong numbers and hang-ups were filtered out so only real conversations counted as conversions.
  4. Conversions imported into Google Ads. CallRail sent qualified calls back to Google Ads, giving Smart Bidding real lead data to optimize toward.

6Tracking Every Lead Form Submission

Not every accident victim wants to call. Some are at work, some are in a hospital room and some just prefer to type. The lead form on each landing page captured those visitors, and every submission was tracked as its own conversion.

We tracked form submissions on the confirmation, not on the button click. That way a visitor who clicked submit with a missing field was not counted as a lead.

  • Separate conversion actions for calls and forms: Keeping them separate showed exactly how each landing page was producing leads and which lead type each campaign leaned toward.
  • Tracking on successful submission only: Only completed forms counted, which kept the conversion data clean for bidding.
  • One combined lead total for reporting: Calls and forms rolled up into the 252 total leads so the firm could see its true cost per lead in one number.

718% vs 22%: What the Conversion Rate Lift Was Worth

The clearest way to see the impact of the landing pages is to hold the budget constant. The firm spent $106,485 and received 1,145 clicks. At the 18% conversion rate the firm was getting before, that same traffic would have produced about 206 leads. At 22%, it produced 252.

Metric At 18% Conversion Rate At 22% Conversion Rate Change
Conversion Rate 18.00% 22.00% +4.00 points
Leads 206 252 +46 leads (+22.2%)
Cost per Lead $516.67 $422.73 -$93.94 (-18.2%)
Total Spend $106,485 $106,485 No change
Clicks 1,145 1,145 No change

That is 46 more injured people calling or contacting the firm without spending a single extra dollar on ads. For a personal injury practice, even a handful of signed cases out of those 46 leads can cover the entire quarter's ad spend.

8The Campaign Metrics Behind the Results

A high conversion rate only works if the right people are clicking in the first place. The campaign data shows the ads were reaching people who were actively looking for an accident lawyer.

Metric 3-Month Total What It Tells You
Impressions 12,967 Ads were shown on focused accident and injury searches, not broad legal terms.
Clicks 1,145 Every click went to a dedicated landing page.
Click-Through Rate 8.83% Strong for legal. The ads matched what searchers were looking for.
Average CPC $93.00 Typical of competitive personal injury markets.
Total Spend $106,485 Roughly $35,500 per month across the three months.
Conversion Rate 22.00% More than 1 in 5 clicks became a call or form lead.

An 8.83% click-through rate tells you the keyword list and ad copy were tight. When the ad promises exactly what the searcher wants and the landing page delivers on that promise, both the click-through rate and the conversion rate go up together.

?
Question to AnswerIs your click-through rate on injury keywords above 5%, and if not, do your ads match the searches triggering them?

9What Made the Difference

None of what we did here is a secret. It is the fundamentals, done carefully, in a market where every click is expensive. Here is what you can apply to your own firm.

  • Send ad traffic to a dedicated landing page: Your homepage is built for everyone. Your landing page should be built for one practice area and one action. At $93 per click, that focus pays for itself quickly.
  • Make calling the easiest thing on the page: Put a click-to-call number at the top on mobile. Accident victims want to talk to someone, so do not make them hunt for the number.
  • Track real calls, not phone taps: Use a tool like CallRail with a minimum call duration. Feeding Smart Bidding real calls trains it to find more callers.
  • Track forms on successful submission: Clean conversion data is what lets Google optimize toward leads instead of noise.
  • Judge the campaign by cost per lead: You cannot control what your competitors bid. You can control how many of your clicks become clients.

In Summary

This Florida Panhandle accident law firm generated 252 tracked leads over three months by sending its Google Ads traffic to custom landing pages and tracking every call and form submission. The conversion rate went from 18% to 22%, which cut the cost per lead from $516.67 to $422.73 on the same $106,485 budget.

The main takeaway is that in a market where clicks cost $93, the biggest gains come after the click. A dedicated landing page, a phone number that is easy to tap and conversion tracking that counts real calls and real forms give Google the data it needs to find more clients like the ones you already sign.
